Applicants for Nigerian Navy Communications must be between the ages of 18 – 26 YEARS and must possess both the O’Level and OND qualification mentioned here.
As a Naval Communicator, you will be responsible for establishing and managing all external voice, radio-teletype and data circuits, and provide real-time tactical information in support of operations.
Naval Communicators maintain communications with national and allied networks over radio frequencies required for mission coordination, using tactical line-of-sight, long-range and satellite communications.
It is also their responsibility to advise Command on tactical signaling and ship maneuvering, encoding/decoding of signals and dissemination of tactical and maneuvering signals.
What rank is Naval Communicator in Nigerian Navy?
The rank of a Nigerian Navy Communicator immediately after recruitment is “Ordinary Rating”.
It is the first non-commissioned rank that successful recruits obtain after passing out of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS).
The Nigerian Navy salary is based on ranks.
And since the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) entry rank is Ordinary Rating.
Your salary as a fresh Naval Communicator in Nigerian Navy immediately after recruitment will be around ₦45,854 monthly.
It increases as you advance in rank.
Now let’s see the required O’Level and OND grades that qualifies you to apply for Communications in Nigerian Navy.
Only O’Level and OND are required for this position, if you possess higher qualifications (Degree, HND, etc), kindly APPLY FOR DIRECT SHORT SERVICE (DSSC).
The Nigerian Navy accepts ANY of these O’Level results (WAEC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, WAEC City & Guilds or London City & Guild) at not more than 2 sittings and not older than 6 years from the date of your application.
In your O’Level result,
You must have at least CREDIT in these subjects:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Any other Science subject
You are also required to possess:
- Minimum of OND Lower Credit in Mass Communication, Journalism, Photography, Printing Technology, Information Library, Public Relations, Graphic Arts, Film Making or Cinematography.
Also intermediate City & Guilds or Trade Test II could be considered. Technical bias will be an advantage.
