What are the duties of Bandsmen in Nigerian Navy?

As a Bandman, you will perform musical duties for Naval functions, usually for the armed forces.

You’ll also be involved in playing ceremonial and marching music, including the national anthems and patriotic songs of not only your own nation but others as well, both while stationary and as a marching band.

What rank is Bandsman in Nigerian Navy?

The rank of a Nigerian Navy Bandman immediately after recruitment is “Ordinary Rating”.

It is the first non-commissioned rank that successful recruits obtain after passing out of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS).

How much are Nigerian Navy Bandsmen paid monthly?

The Nigerian Navy salary is based on ranks.

And since the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) entry rank is Ordinary Rating.

Your salary as a fresh Bandman in Nigerian Navy immediately after recruitment will be around ₦45,854 monthly.

It increases as you advance in rank.

Requirements for Nigerian Navy recruitment for Bandsmen

O’Level requirements for Bandsmen in Nigerian Navy

The Nigerian Navy accepts ANY of these O’Level results (WAEC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, WAEC City & Guilds or London City & Guild) at not more than 2 sittings and not older than 6 years from the date of your application.

In your O’Level result,

You must have at least CREDIT in these subjects:

• English Language
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Any other Science subject

Higher education requirements for Bandsmen in Nigerian Navy

You are also required to possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in music education, minimum, master’s or Ph.D. may be preferred

Also intermediate City & Guilds or Trade Test II could be considered. Technical bias will be an advantage.

Practical requirements for Bandsmen in Nigerian Navy

• Applicants must be proficient in playing one or more musical instruments.
