What are the duties of Firemen in Nigerian Navy?

The Nigerian navy fireman department is responsible for operating electrical and sound-powered communication system. 

Serving as a member of damage control, emergency, rescue & assistance teams and taking part in the underway replenishment by transferring fuel and supplies from ship to ship at sea.

As a Fireman, you are also responsible for keeping accurate electronic and written records, observing safety standards associated with engineering machinery. 

What rank is Firemen in Nigerian Navy?

The rank of a Nigerian Navy Fireman immediately after recruitment is “Ordinary Rating”.

It is the first non-commissioned rank that successful recruits obtain after passing out of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS).

How much is Nigerian Navy Fireman paid monthly?

The Nigerian Navy salary is based on ranks.

And since the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School (NNBTS) entry rank is Ordinary Rating.

Your salary as a fresh Fireman in Nigerian Navy immediately after recruitment will be around ₦45,854 monthly.

It increases as you advance in rank.

Requirements for Nigerian Navy recruitment for Firemen

Now let’s see the required O’Level and OND grades that qualifies you to apply for Fireman in Nigerian Navy.

Only O’Level and OND are required for this position, if you possess higher qualifications (Degree, HND, etc), kindly APPLY FOR DIRECT SHORT SERVICE (DSSC).

O’Level requirements for Firemen in Nigerian Navy

The Nigerian Navy accepts ANY of these O’Level results (WAEC, GCE, NECO, NABTEB, WAEC City & Guilds or London City & Guild) at not more than 2 sittings and not older than 6 years from the date of your application.

In your O’Level result,

You must have at least CREDIT in these subjects:

• English Language
• Mathematics
• Physics
• Chemistry
• Any other Science subject

Higher education requirements for Firemen in Nigerian Navy

You are also required to possess:

• Minimum of Bachelor’s degree / HND in Science or other discipline.

Practical requirements for Firemen in Nigerian Navy

• Minimum of seven (7) years for the Supervisor and three (3) years fire fighting experience for the Fireman Advanced fire fighting training and/or HSE certifications. Must be able to operate and drive a fire truck.
